Reduce the Load

Living with illness can place a considerable load on the body and mind.  Sometimes that load comes directly from the experience of being unwell; sometimes it comes from other areas of life. Either way, ongoing stress and emotional burdens can affect how we feel, cope and function.

Reduce the Load provides a safe and supportive space to explore these burdens and understand how they may be interacting with your experience of illness.

The aim is not to suggest that stress is the cause of your symptoms, but to explore whether there are ways of reducing the emotional and stress-related load your system is carrying.

The Details

Explore The Load

 3 × 1-hour sessions · £250

A three-session journey for gently exploring stress and emotional burdens that may be adding to the load your system is carrying, and beginning to develop ways of working with them.

The aim is not necessarily to remove the things that are difficult, but to understand what you are carrying, find ways to lighten the load where possible, and develop a different relationship with what remains.

Session 1 — Understand the load

We take a gentle, individually paced look at the stress and emotional factors that may be affecting you. Together, we explore what feels most relevant to your experience and identify a core issue or area that you would like to work with.

Session 2 — Find ways to work with it

Using the core issue identified in Session 1, we explore a tailored range of emotional and stress-management tools. The focus is on discovering what feels useful and authentic for you, rather than applying a one-size-fits-all approach.

Session 3 — Carry it differently

We continue working with the issue we have identified, deepening the tools and approaches that feel helpful to you. We then look at how you might take this learning forward and identify any useful next steps or areas for further support.

Reduce The Load

1 × 1-hour session · £100

A flexible, focused session shaped around what you need at that particular point in time.

The focus may be agreed at the beginning of the session, or may follow on naturally from something explored in a previous session.

This could include working with a particular emotional or stress-related issue, exploring a challenging situation, or using and developing tools that you have already found helpful.

The session is guided by what feels most useful and relevant to you on the day.

The aim is to create space for what you are carrying and support you in finding a little more capacity, choice and ease within it.

 A gentle reminder

My work is designed to complement, not replace, medical care. If you’re currently under the care of a doctor, consultant or other healthcare professional, I encourage you to continue that relationship alongside any work we do together.

If you are experiencing an acute medical or mental health crisis, please seek immediate support. You can attend your local emergency department, call the emergency services (999 in the UK / 112 in the EU), or, if you are in emotional distress and need someone to talk to, contact the Samaritans on 116 123 in the UK and Ireland.
